Thanks for the advice. I did practice, in fact this pic is of me in the bathroom just before I received hair and makeup. I was in there several times a day before the shoot. I should be receiving my pics today(crossing fingers). Stay tuned and they should be up in 24 hours.

Hiya Gem- Thanks for the compliment. I've actually been studying Elvgren's painting style for several years along side my other artistic pursuits. Elvgen, as well as several of the other pinup and advertising artists of the 40s and 50s were very much influenced by the painting methods of John Singer Sargent. In addition to Sargent's use of paint and methodologies he developed (working with "wet into wet" painting, emphasis on overall color and tonal composition before details are developed, and simplifying or stylizing details without losing realism by eliminating extraneous or distracting elements), Illustrators of this era used a very specific color pallette, far more utopian and bright than the more moody colors of Sargent's turn of the Century portrait work. Stylization or simplification played against a high emphasis on realistic use of tones and color is also very key to Elvgren's specific style (as well as others who imitated him or had their own similar styles like Haddon Sundblom). I could b******* about this stuff for hours, but I'll cut it short. Are you a painter?
