Okay, I've never been to VIVA before. *gasp/shudder* I've got the dates blocked out so I don't book any DJ jobs. But I'm not really sure what to expect...
Can anyone offer any suggestions on dress code, events NOT to miss, vendors to check out, etc? I'm new to the scene so any suggestions or hints would be greatly appreciated.
I've never been either but if you check out the website you can get info there. www.vivalasvegas.net also, youtube has videos from the car shows so you can get an idea of what to expect in that aspect. I personally am looking forward to the car show and the music performances. Chuck Berry, Wanda Jackson, The Chop Tops, and Big Sandy to name a few! I can't wait to experience it! Looks like it will be an absolute blast! Have fun when you're there! I know I plan on doing so!!
Once you get your hands on the schedule of events you will want to prioritize. Make an A list and a B list of the stuff you want to do and see. Leave plenty of time for the car show. If possible bring a lot of friends. The bigger your group the more fun. Have the ability to text/call meetup with people. You might get tired and have to miss something, your friends might pass out and leave you at the dance all alone. These are the times when you find yourself making new friends. Stock your room with water and force yourself to drink it. I highly recommend treating yourself to a spa morning. Last time I had a package with a facial, sugar scrub and massage. It really helped take that hangover look away. Prepare for standing in long lines, especially at the bar. Bring a camera and a backup. Expect to spend an obscene amount of cash. If you have money left over at the end of the weekend it feels like you won in Vegas. Oh and bring sunscreen and a hat/umbrella for the crazy sun. Bring a sweater or a hip jacket for the air conditioner chill. There are always fliers for bands and events at other bars around vegas on the same weekend which is nice if you want to see more psychobilly or burlesque or something. Most importantly since your new to the scene, have a blast.
