"We Are The New Vintage"

They are usually out of rooms at the orleans for viva by the end of the viva the year before. We always book our room during viva for the next year. I live in Vegas but its nice to be closer.
Last year was the first year they held it at the Orleans, and the Orleans has at least 10 times as many rooms as the Gold Coast, where Viva was held the first 11 years. The Gold Coast always sold out of rooms for the following year by the end of the weekend, but the Orleans doesn't have that problem since it is so big.
I do think the Orleans might be sold out NOW, but my friend just booked our room 2 weeks ago and there were still some available. Also, people often cancel about a month before Viva and so some rooms open up in the last month.

You should search third party booking. A lot of agencies will buy up the rooms in bulk so the Hotel is sold out, but not really. I booked my room through hotelsdotcom less than a week ago. You might have to do some searching. Good luck!
I was talking about booking my room in the past at the gold coast obviously. Last year I booked my room for the orleans for this years viva just to be safe. It does have alot more rooms but better safe than sorry. The reason Tom moved the event is because of how many more people were coming each year. It out grew the gold coast which means if it keeps growing this way we will have the same issues at the orleans in the next few years.

You said Orleans, and since there are a lot of new people who have never gone to Viva I thought I should clarify. Viva outgrew hotel capacity the second year, and I would say the event outgrew the venue completely by 2004 or 2005.
I really wasn't sure how I liked it at the Orleans last year. There were the bottle neck waits at the escalators when bands were playing. I know I will need to go upstairs Saturday, at least an hour before the bands I want to see play, to avoid getting caught in the crowd leaving the showroom from watching burlesque.

you're right its good to clarify, I wasn't thinking about that. I have a soft spot for the gold coast since there's been a lot of viva memories made there but I guess its good to accommodate to the capacity of the event. I felt like it was too crowded in the bands area too which is why i think it will be harder to book rooms unless you do it in advance in the next few years.

I just hope the numbers are still up for this event. Viva is so established I'm sure that they will be. I was so disappointed that they aren't going to do the Rave in Vegas again. I went the first year and thought it was such a good event, with quality music and a good vibe. I was amazed that the turnout was so low the second year.
