"We Are The New Vintage"
Hi Everyone!!
I am going to be at the car show for VLV and have a few photographers interested in doing some shoots there.
I have never done a shoot before at the car show. Photographers and models what has your experience been? Are most of the car owners cool about letting you shoot with their car, or do you need to know someone with a car in advance? Any advice or tips would be appreciated! Thanks!

Being on both sides of the equation - being a photographer and having owned classic cars, I 'll say that most car owners are ok with you having your picture taken next to their cars without permission, but not on or in them. However...most guys and gals that own cars are more than happy to let you lean on or sit in their car IF you politely ask permission. It's a courtesy / respect issue as well as a common sense thing. If an owner agrees, don't immediately climb to the middle of their hood where you might bend something on scratch up the custom paint that took 100s of hours to finish. I'll be shooting in and around VLV starting Wed. night - good luck with your sessions!
Thanks for the advice! Do you think it is more of a go there and make the best of it. I know many photographers who do not like the chance of having a lot of people in the background of their photos.
It can be really fun, or really frustrating. But just go with the flow, ask permission, be willing to wait for a turn, and have fun. Also, always remember to be aware of how the sun hits the car, and the cars around you. A great shot can be ruined or made better by the suns glare.
Im curious to. Im sure you could find a few models and cars that will already be there to set something up in the desert. I know Id love to participate!
