"We Are The New Vintage"
So I was reading the Sac Bee this afternoon and I saw that a Mel Ramos exhibition will be at the Crocker Museum in Sacramento. Unfortunately, I have to wait until June for it to open, but I thought I would post it here so that my Sac-town peeps who may not have seen it in the paper will know about it.
Don't know who Mel Ramos is? Here is an excerpt from the Crocker Art Museum website.
"A Sacramento native and Sacramento State alumnus, internationally acclaimed Mel Ramos (born 1935) is one of the city's most celebrated artists. This exhibition showcases each of the artist's creative phases, including his Abstract Expressionist early works, his comic-book heroes from the 1960s, and the commercially inspired nudes that made him famous. The latter, which he started painting in the mid-1960s and continues to produce today, feature female figures wrapped lasciviously around giant Coca-Cola bottles, popping out of candy wrappers, and lounging on fresh fruit and a host of other consumer products."

The exhibition will open on June 2 and run until October 21.
The Crocker Museum is located at 216 O Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. Phone #916-808-7000
Hope to see you there!

It opens today! I probably won't be going for another couple of weeks - I have some busy weekends coming up! Anybody else in the Sac area going?
I went yesterday and it was awesome! To be so up-close to my favorite paintings was surreal! It closes next weekend, so if you haven't gone, go! :)
