I'm about an hour south of Springfield!

I am in central illinois. about an hour north of peoria. i do modeling and photography.

Well then I'm about halfway between you both.  I saw where there were a lot of people near Chicago and didn't know if anyone was in IL outside of Chicago/suburbs. Any tips for someone just starting like myself?

check out peekaboopinups.com it's a pinup group i belong to. they have a lot of events throughout the year and will help promote you and get you into publications and calendars, etc... they also have a page on facebook which is better at promoting their newest events and shoots. all the girls are great and they have shoots ranging from $100 ($150 with hair and makeup) to $350 for big deal shoots like the barnum and bailey circus museum shoot coming up in may.

i do on-location pinup and boudoir shoots for $75 an hour (10 edited images on CD included) and will submit the best shots to publications like Lush Kittens, Fashion Bombshell and the like.

Classic car show season is coming up! there will be a lot of pinup girl pagaents going on at car shows. even if you don't feel up to being a contestant, i'd say still go to them to meet people. vintage torque fest is coming up in dubuque, iowa pretty soon - early may. my friend Carmen Lee is hosting a pinup pagaent up in steven's point, WI end of may and is still accepting contestants. i think it's $20 or $25 to enter. it's a bout a 2-3 hour trip (3 for me). a long haul, but  you'd meet lots of pinups from the midwest there, and carmen is great. she's lead singer for a rockabilly band and has been in a lot of magazines and such.

here are links to the peekaboo pinups facebook page and to carmen lee's pinup pagaent page if you're interested...oh, and to dubuque's vintage torque fest!

hope that helps some!!

Yeah a friend of my husband's told me about the vintage torque fest contest. I'm hoping to enter that one but I really want to get a good picture up since you have to be voted in for the top 15.  The weather here is so horrible to get pics outside right now GRR all I have are boring self shots :/ but I have a friend that is a photographer and lots more friends with classic cars LOL.

Is a lot of it paying for people to help get your pics and promote you? I'm sorry I'm so new. On March 7th I took a single pic of my hair/makeup done pinup style (which I didn't really want shared) and my husband posted it to fb and it got shared around and blew up into making my own model page EEK. I'm a stay at home mom so a hobby is great, especially one where I feel like a girl since I'm usually with a group of guys getting muddy.

I liked the peekaboo pinups fb page as well so I can keep an eye out on there for upcoming shoots. I probably won't be going to many pin up contests-depends on when and where I guess-I know I will be at torque fest since we are going with my husband's friends but we won't be taking our car.  we have a 66 catalina that was in a barn for 30years so it needs a little tlc before it leaves the town we live in.

My page on FB is https://www.facebook.com/pages/Skyla-Fox/420927344666292 if anyone wanted to check it out and give me some feedback-keep in mind I took all the pics myself with the timer on my camera, I hope to have new ones soon.

Thanks for being so sweet and helpful!

hey skyla...it's really not important to have someone promote you and i don't really know many girls who pay for that. it's just something extra "peeka boo" and some other companies do for their regular customers. what's most important is to have good, professional photos.

if you want to win contests, be in magazines, calendars, etc... it's the quality of the photos that is paramount. it's definitely worth investing in professional photo shoots!

then once you have the great photos in your hot, little hands...you don't have to wait for a photographer or promoter to submit them to magazines and such for you, you can do it yourself.

good luck...and hope to see you at torque fest!!

Thanks for the information, this will help me a lot.  I'm really hoping the weather breaks so I can get a good pic to submit for torque fest :-D. I will also be saving up a little for some professional pictures.  Still building up a wardrobe-so fun!
