Where did the Music go???

Recently we polled members on twitter regarding music feature, we took all feedback into account and weighed it in with our notes regarding the service we provided.

We felt that the ability to upload music was not necessary on the site and that if we weren't going to have the very best implementation of it, there was no point having it at all.

WHY?

- Only very specific file types were accepted, this created an endless stream of support requests and walking people thru converting files.

- No support for playlists was a real drag.

- Managing the music was confusing.

- You could only upload 100 tracks, and the only way to delete them was 1 by 1!

- The resources are best directed towards the core of our site, photos!


WHAT NOW!? You can still have music!


Essentially we felt that if we're not going to do something super well, don't do it at all. NOW...there are people that do this super well...


We highly suggest you get an account at http://www.Playlist.com You can create playlists, and embed the players right in your PL profiles. If you need help embedding the player on your profiles, please post in this thread.

Hey Richie, good point brother, we actually had your page in mind playing the part of "PROS" for keeping the music. They were classics that may not be readily available on a service like playlist.com...

Here is a way I found to upload music to Playlist.com....

go to fileden.com, create an account
upload the songs from your files,
then view song properties
copy the URL, then go to:
http://www.playlist.com/link/search?searchfor=song,
then paste the URL into the search box on playlist.com...

it might take a little while to show up but after that u can add it to your playlist(s)

I agree... You've made the right choice, the music feature was a bit lacking, and most of all, unnecessary. Thanks for the heads up and details on the alternative!
