When you first started, did you pay for photo shootings?

I really want to get some professional pictures done of me as a pin up, but here in Germany I cant find many photographers in my state, not just the city, mind you, that do this kind of work. And the ones I found are expensive. so I was just wondering if at first you paid for photographers to take your pictures? if not, how did you get in contact with them that led to them offering to take your pictures for free? sorry if those questions sound silly, I realy am new to all of that.

The best way to find a photographer in your area is to keep an eye on the Castings that are happening in your area. Or you can post your own casting looking for one. You can also use the advanced search to find people in your area. 

As for paying for shoots, the bottom line is if you want to build a great portfolio you have to shoot with the best, and the best cost money. There are a ton of threads here about getting started, take some time to read them and you'll learn quite a bit. Here are a few to get you started.
