What's up, Doc?

Saturday morning my daughter wakes me up from a good dream and asks if I could turn on the TV and give her some cereal. I roll out of bed and into the living room turn on the TV put on the cartoons. Stumble into the kitchen and pour her a bowl of CoCo Puffs and make myself a cup of coffee. Normally I fall asleep on the sofa but this time I thought ehh why not watch them with her.
I asked her what her favorite cartoons are and she replied Fairly Odd Parents and Sponge Bob Square pants.
While I was watching her I had a flash back of when I was her age (MANY MANY moons ago). I remember waking up every Saturday morning at the crack of dawn to watch cartoons like Rainbow Bright, the Smurfs, strawberry short cake, Thunder Cats, Scooby Doo Mysteries, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales, Fraggle Rock, Garfield and Friends, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Inspector Gadget, Jetsons , The Tom and Jerry Show, Transformers...Oh yeah! and my FAVORITE Looney Tunes Pepe Le Pew and Bugs Bunny. Oh I loved it when Bugs would dress in DRAG! OMG funny.
I thought to myself my daughters generation doesn't even KNOW what looney tunes are if anything they know of bugs bunny and six flags magic mountain! But what about the rest of the Gang Porky Pig, Road Runner (not the internet service provider), Sylvester the cat tweedy bird, and the rest. So I went out to buy some DVD's to educate her on cartoon history...hehehe.

My son loves sponge bob, and I hate it. I'd rather he watched He-Man. Whatever happened to nice cartoons that had a good message?

I remember watching Strawberry Shortcake, The Smurfs, Rainbrow Brite, Care Bears...all the girly ones HAHA! I HATE having to monitor what cartoons my kids are watching these days. I remember when I was little (which wasnt that long ago) that ALL cartoons were for kids. Now there are nasty cartoons or cartoons that teach awful habits...its sad.
