The pinup version of Disney-Land!

The Hubby and I just got back from a trip to Shangri-La Imaginarium & Photo Hostel. Located in Ashland Pennsylvania, Shangri-La Imaginarium is like stepping back in a time machine! Upon arrival, the hubby was having heart palpitations trying to decide just where to set up to shoot first! Every room in the house is furnished in vintage décor, so each wall is a set in its own right! The attention to detail is amazing! And while the Hubby raced back and forth, head spinning like a kid on Christmas morning, looking at all the props, local hair and makeup artist Nicole Zedonek of Making Faces Professional Make Up gave me the royal treatment, sending me back in time as well! WOW this lovely lady truly knows her stuff! I couldn’t stop smiling at the results!

We shot for three hours and couldn’t even put a dent in what this place has to offer! And the finished pictures were beyond either of our expectations! The Hubby said he felt like a real photographer for the first time. And this place will truly bring out the model in you aspiring fellow pinup gals, as well as professional models alike.

The drive out to Shangri-La is a little adventure in its own right. You speed through quiet countryside and quaint little towns that have a retro feel to them, so when you arrive you can’t wait to get started. We made a long weekend out of the event and so can you! You have Hershey Park to the southwest, Allentown with Dorney Park to the southeast and Bethlehem, with the Sands Hotel and Casino, nearby. All of them are roughly an hour to an hour and a half away from Shangri-La. We stayed at the Sands, and came back to our hotel exhausted and giddy at the time we had!

While the Hubby brought his own lighting equipment with him, any other amateurs like ourselves reading this would be thrilled to know that Shangri-La has lighting equipment aplenty if you don’t own any! So listen up aspiring photo Gents. Throw your camera in the car, grab your Dame, head on over to Shangri-La Imaginarium, and have Nicole of Making Faces Professional Make Up work her magic on your gal. Then transport back in time and have a blast like we did!
