Retro Sci-Fi Pinup Theme

We're starting our move tomorrow and I will not be able to paint my boy's room, but I'm going for a retro scri-fi theme that will mostly be pinups riding flying saucers, firing ray guns, maybe some chunky boxy robots, planets, etc.
Does anybody have any cool ideas for this? I'll probably be painting a series of pictures, but how else can I decorate in this theme without painting the walls?

Probably not. Just the colours that work with the theme. I envision navy blue, orange, green, and silver. Sounds awful, doesn't it? Hahah but it works.

Of course the walls and carpet are a creamy light tan. So boring.

You could always stick plastic glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling.

It'll depend on the type of ceiling you have, though. I tried those on my son's ceiling, and they popped right off. I had to glue them on, lol. I also got him this neat-o turtle that projects the constellations.

I actually just pulled that photo from an eBay listing. The price isn't so bad, considering I bought mine for over $30!

You could also get a "Moon in My Room". My son has one of those as well and loves it. I got ours from Wal Mart.

And then there's always a mobile of planets that you could hang as well.

I think Wal Mart sells those too. They're cool cuz you get to decorate the planets yoursel. =0D

OH, and then there's also vinyl decals that stick right on and peel right off the walls! They're allll over Etsy.com, and you can choose the color of vinyl used.

Wow those are some neat things. I even managed to find sparkley rocket and planet stickers at the dollar store. I tried to do Rhett's room in retro sci-fi when he was a baby and couldn't find anything like these. Sooo I went for safari, and that's an easy one to execute.

The room is actually for two boys, one who will be 4 in September (Rhett), and the other is 5 months old (Cailum)... He actually sleeps in our room, but his gear will be in the "children's" room.

You could look at vintage/retro toys and models of spaceships, monsters, movie posters, etc. The toys and models you could hang from the ceiling, or they can go on a shelf.

Just wanted to say What an AWESOME idea for a theme.

You could check deviant art for ideas and maybe sketch things on paper to hang up on the walls.

OH MY!!! This is great! I am currently redecorating my room, but haven't really decided what genre of pin up I want the art to be, but I really like this idea. Mind if I "borrow" your idea? Any sites or references you could give me?

since your moving, if you have some fairly large cardboard boxes you could paint or draw on them? maybe have your older boy decorate one with scifi type things?
