New denim trend: high-waisted & wide-legged, 70s style. Hot or not?

I know most of us here aren't extremely concerned with what's trendy or not, but I'm curious.. what do you think of this new trend? 

 

I searched and searched and could find no images in which the jeans were flattering in any way to the model. Not a good sign.

i love it, sooooo much! now lets bring back some 70's color and print v neck Tees to go with! brings out the inner tomboy ready to hop on the back of a motorcycle and ride, im a huge fan of the show Dexter and debra morgan rocks the 70 retro style so ive been loving it since. also a big fan of the music from that era , so it just makes me want to put them on and rock out to led zeppelin !

I just styled a photo shoot with them and they are a nice change from super lowrise hoochie jeans. But you really need the right body type. The style can make already curvy gals look too curvy in the wrong ways.

Yes, on the right body type they are very cute.   On my curvy short frame  they are not hot.  More like Humpty Dumpty in long pants.

I really can't get into those, they're too bell bottom-y for me, I'd feel like I stole a Brady's pants. I'm totally in love with these high waisted jeans  though - http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3897234 - Levi's Perfectly Slimming 512 straight leg. TBH, they look a s***-tonne better on me than the model pictured as she apparently has no curves. They're the only jeans I've found that sit high enough and aren't extremely over priced (eeeek, the US site shows them for $40, I paid $70 in Toronto ;p) And the slimming panel makes my mum-tum go bye bye.

 

I also say yes to cuffs, like Betty.

I like the 2nd picture. I like jeans like this when they have those brass golden buttons to them on the front or the sides, kinda sailor like sometimes.

I love it when Retro styles come back! I prefer Highwaisted jeans, anything other than highwaisted is pretty much low waist where you cant even bend over or sit down with showing your second cleavage..LOL

I hated them then, I hate them even more now!!  I hated the fact that the bell bottom part at the end of the pants would wake the one on the other leg, and get dirty too.  Yuck!  If you are doing 70s theme, then they are okay.

40s pleated high waisted pants = HOT
70s wide leg high waist = NOT HOT

WTF roxy, i dont know if we can be friends anymore, how can you hate the 70's!  some of our best music came out then, George clinton and parliament and the h*** funk! not to mention womens lib really took hold. Sure, the bell bottoms and the afros were not so cute, agreed, but the whole era! it was a great era, i hope i can forgive you, lol.
