Makeup for photo shoot (Help!!)

So I have to do my own make up for a shoot here soon, my Q is, even though I'm generally pretty good at doing my make up I need help for what works and what does not work in photos. Like blush, I normally don't wear it since it think it a bit too much esp when I wear my red lips, which I do everyday and I could never really master to put it on right...Also is it best to wear strong makeup, shadows and all? Like I said I do my everyday makeup and it looks okay but if any of you more experienced models could help me with some ideas I would be most grateful. XO
