and it's terrible! Part of one of my songs is just missing (along with the video part), some of it is totally overexposed, and some is underexposed, and the whole video jerks around like someone took it with their handheld camera. I am so disappointed, and furious at how unprofessionally the whole fashion show was run.

I hate people that do s*** half assed, Desi and I both share that feeling. How much are you out doll?
Well, to be in the fashion show cost about $250 I believe. That was originally supposed to include hair, makeup, food, rehearsals, and a professionally produced DVD. None of that happened.
I spoke with several people who had participated in the fashion show in the past and not one of them would do it again. I do not recommend doing any business with Rockin Kitty productions.

Does this contain the clips from this year? If so, camera white balances are way off from one to another. A shame too, decent angles were reserved for shots. And why the heck was the cameraman on the "floor" not using a stabilizer of some sort or basic track dolly!?

The highlight video is the "best" shots from this year's video. When I looked at it again, I noticed that the models heads were cut off, and the camera would drift away from the model, then snap back, like the cameraman got distracted. I contacted Cathy Garcia(Rockin Kitty), but she won't even respond to my emails. She never has, even from the beginning.
I spoke with Tom Ingram about it, and he ackowledged that the fashion show was a disaster. That's why I won't be doing it again.

Mary,
I really think it's unfair of you to slander Rockin Kitty Productions and the Viva Las Vegas Fashion Show based on how the video looked. Many of the other designers and I agree that it was a really good production based on it being only in it's second year. And fashion shows are always chaotic and nerve racking behind the scenes.

If you talked to a lot of the people that watched it from the audience, they thought it was brilliant. Yes, the video is not of the best quality and this is something that they're fixing next year. There's going to be more people assisting with the show so that the video people filming the production do a better job, and back stage will be much smoother. I approached Catherine in person and told her my suggestions for next year and she was really receptive and appreciated the response. Also, the video was mostly made for the designers as something to keep for a nice memory. It has some kinks in it but my family loved it since they can never be with me when my company is involved with various events.

I'm very thankful that I had the opportunity to be in this fashion show. There were a LOT of companies that submitted applications and only a few were selected. It was an honor to have my line featured on the same stage as Lena Hoscheck... and, as far as I know, she's returning next year. I don't think that she would return if this fashion show was so much more awful and unprofessional than the ones that her line is normally showcased in (like Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin). I know that I wouldn't want to risk my line's credibility if I was of that much celebrity status by jumping into a train wreck. And I don't think Tom Ingram would let it continue next year if it was that much of a disaster. Plus, I hate to brag, but I did go to one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the country and I've been blessed with opportunities to see how other productions go, they're all different based on the company and target audience, but they all have their drama behind the scenes. That's just going to be a given when you have that many people and personalities cramped together in a space trying to be their best.

Secondly, I feel that the price of the show was totally worth it (and MUCH cheaper than being in another fashion show). I'm not going to be able to afford to be in a trade show until next season, in the meantime my sales assistant and I work on an individual basis with stores. While the first store to pick up my line about three years ago was one in England, I've been mostly limited to boutiques throughout California because of my travel limitations. This fashion show opened doors for me. After the show my inbox filled up with wholesale orders throughout the US from boutique owners that had seen my line. Plus, more boutiques in Europe started buying from me. These were all people who had either seen my line in the show or had been told about it from friends that watched. It seems to me that the people that got the best reception of the show were the ones that had a nice balance of performance and actual runway, so that the clothing could speak for itself, the music used helped too since it was another way to capture the audience. Also, the energy of the models chosen were a HUGE factor. My girls, except for the one or two that I had complaints about from the audience, had amazing presence and I give them most of the credit for my segment in the show being such a success.

Back to the price of the show, if you read the website when you registered it was VERY clear that hair and make-up was NOT included in the price. It was up to the designers to compensate these people through trade, money or viva tickets. If you had told Catherine that your budget was limited then she would have helped you find someone that would work with you for trade. I believe I also referred you to one of the girls that my company was working with that was more than willing to do a trade. The food part was a disappointment, but I refuse to base my whole opinion of a production because of the food. As far as I was told, something happened that caused problems with the food. This isn't an uncommon thing though, my cousin and I came slightly prepared with fruit and some little snacks that we shared with the girls. I think, though, that we've worked in this industry long enough to know that it's good to be prepared for all worst case scenarios.
Hey Edson... what happened to PL TV? The girls that showcased my apparel are still asking when they can see this... it was filmed almost 2 years ago with Ama, do you remember?

I'm sorry, care to elaborate? There has never been an official announcement, release, or speak of a show or project called PLTV. What girls, what show with Ama?

Our only official collaboration involving Ama has been to a stream photoshoot live from the loft on our channel which we call PL TV. http://www.pinuplifestyle.com/page/pltv-live We have also streamed live music acts and anytime a photographer visits or when we feel like goofing off in live chat.

If you or any other vendor, or model was approached by someone selling a show, dvd, or movie involving PinupLifestyle please let us know as we've never realized such a project even in a test stage. I'd love to address this directly and immediately if you can PM me your number, please be prepared with proof of any financial exchange and/or communications on the matter believed to be from Desirée or myself.

PS: Welcome back!

I'll send you all the info in a message. There was no monetary exchange. And there were only a few of us that were interviewed--me, Jeanette of Pinup Girl Clothing, a couple of girls and Julia Fong (formerly known as Lana Lei) that were in the show.

I looked over my previous post, and there are zero libelous comments at all. I did not attack Ms. Garcia personally, I just commented on my experience working with her. She approached me about the fashion show several times before I agreed to participate. She was very aware of my budget and personally promised many things to my company that were not delivered. I do not know what she promised to any other company.

Many of us went to quite prestigious schools, also. I have over 30 years experience in the garment industry, and have worked on dozens of fashion shows, so I know how a fashion show is supposed to be run.

I did get an excellent response from the audience, all of whom told me that my segment was by far the best of the entire show. That does not excuse the fact that the show was run poorly by the promoters.
