I'm new so I may be stepping out of line here. If I am I apologize. Flipping through the DIY Forum I've noticed the topics are mostly clothes, hair pins, etc. so I figured I'd throw a little something different in the mix. Not that there is anything wrong with hair pins. If I'm in the wrong place kindly tell me where to go. You won't be the first.
Finishing up last spring I made a boat. It's an Elegant Punt as described in the book "Instant Boats" by Dynamite Payson.
Basically I was trying to find a way for my family to have a lot of fun for a little money. We have a neighborhood pond, and a very nice lake near by, so I figured why not a boat. Boats for purchase in the area were outside our price range and after a little looking I found out about "Instant Boats."
She's made with pretty much the cheapest materials that would do the job and because of that requires some, but not a lot, of upkeep. I basically traded time for money.
When the weather is nice I take the kids out giving mom some precious time alone. We fish a little, row a little, get stuck on rocks a little and usually have a pretty good time.
She's named after the O. Henry story "Gift of the Magi."
Here's some
