Classic Films & Moviestars... Whats your Favorite?

Hello Pin Up Lovers!! I am such a big fan of Movies. Old and New… Such a great way to sit back, relax and escape or be inspired and intrigued…

I was soooo delighted when I discovered a movie theater nearby in Palo Alto that showcases classic movies from Hollywood’s Golden Age in a beautifully restored theater…The Stanford Theater on University Ave… the website is:

For those of you who live nearby! I can’t wait to see SHANGHAI EXPRESS (1932), KING KONG (1933), GONE WITH THE WIND (1946), etc… on the Big Screen!!

So I was wondering… What are your favorite classic movies/movie stars and why? I know a few discussions are up but just thought I’d start a new thread.

Here are some of my favorite flicks…

CASABLANCA (1942) ~ Smart storyline with some of the most classic movie quotes
THE MALTESE FALCON (1941) ~ Another with handsome devil Humphrey Bogart
THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (1940) ~ I *heart* Jimmy Stewart
SOME LIKE IT HOT (1959) ~ Not just because of Marilyn Monroe, but Jack Lemmon & Tony Curtis are sooo hilarious in this movie too!

CITY LIGHTS (1931), THE CIRCUS (1928) and everything by CHARLIE CHAPLIN ~ Genius in my Book!

Of Course…
PIN UP GIRL (1944) with pinup beauty Betty Grable

These were later on… but my favorite films from the 60’S-70’S… are:
CABARET (1972)
SWEET CHARITY (1969)
THE GODFATHER (1972)

I also love anything that showcases dancers GENE KELLY, FRED ASTAIRE & CYD CHARISSE!

Hello! Just thought I'd let you know there's already been two discussions about classic movies people like. Check past discussions. I love classic films myself (already wrote list before) but now I'm obsessed with graphic novel based movies...Watchmen!!! But things may go back to normal next week...maybe.

First off thanks for posting this thread. I also love vintage movies. One of my all time Favorites is "The Hustler" which is a Paul Newman/Jackie Gleason/Piper Laurie/George Scott flick set in the 60's. I love the look of this film, and is a must see in BLACK & WHITE, (TECHNICOLOR STINKS!).
