Can a girl with black skin be a pin up?

Hi Ladies! I'm new here and I want to ask a question I had in my mind since I discovered pin up. I looked some discussions and I didn't find something explaining this, and If this isn't in the right place I'm sorry :(

 

My question is: Can a black girl be a pin up? A lot of people told me this cannot be possible because every pin up girl has white skin, and the make up they wear is special for that skin. 

 

(And sorry for my bad english)

After  looking at your photo I would say you make a great pin-up girl, you so look it in that photo.

My view of the world is that there are people and a******* in this world. People come in different colors shapes and sizes and there all good but the problem is a******* look just like people.

Contrary to occasional ignorant belief....

Black women were alive equally fabulous with cute hair and chic style, all werent servants or some where picking cotton during this era

The real world isnt black and white... its way better, so ya got multi racial pin ups, fat ones, tattooed one, horror ones, zombie ones.. its good.

It's an interesting question, I think.

Personally I would love the chance to make it work.  You're right about it being a Caucasion dominated cultural phenomenon, based on North America in the 40/50's, the pop culture of the day was definitely not flooded with dark skin (or yellow... or brown...you get the idea).

 

That being said there were some stunning black women of that era.  The biggest trick, as you would know, may be creating the hair styles of the day with a black womans' own hair, being that black hair is texturally so different from white folks.  

 

I suppose the right hair 'appliance' may save you some work.  Those styles really can be a specialty on their own.

 

Traditionally, you may be right, that there may not be as many Black pin-up/burlesque models to emulate, however, you are not likely to find any other culture that is more accepting of you in a new fashion or style.

 

I hope you find great acceptance in trying new ways to express yourself in this style.

The reason I LOVE pinup is because it embraces ALL shapes, ALL colors, ALL women! (hey and men too!). It's all about what you can bring to the table. If you want to be a pinup, GO for it! I think you're absolutely LOVELY, so keep striving for what you want!
