Can a girl with black skin be a pin up?

Hi Ladies! I'm new here and I want to ask a question I had in my mind since I discovered pin up. I looked some discussions and I didn't find something explaining this, and If this isn't in the right place I'm sorry :(

 

My question is: Can a black girl be a pin up? A lot of people told me this cannot be possible because every pin up girl has white skin, and the make up they wear is special for that skin. 

 

(And sorry for my bad english)

I think the reason why there weren't so many African American Pin ups was because of the time in America. There was still segregation and racism everywhere, African Americans weren't able to do very much... and unfortunately I'm sure it was the same in other countrys.. :(

 

However, it's 2011 and if you want to be a Pin Up then do it! <3

All my life I found a lot of people that told me "you cannot be this because you're not white" "you cannot be this because of your curly hair" and something like this. 

 

Thank you for sharing this posts (I love the second one) because they helped me. I don't think tomorrow I will get up like "look at me, I'm a Pin up!" but this is a style I like so much and I want to take things of it and adapt to my personal style.

Edit: I like you to see a photo of me in Carnival. That's not so Pin up but I like this dress. My fringe was red and my hair straight. But now I dyed all my hair black and it's natural curly. Sorry for the bad quality.

As the other ladies have said, you can be pin up no matter what your skin color. We have EVERY color pin up here on PL. Anyone who says you have to be white is a fool. And because we wear special make up.... what the hell is that about? If they make foundation for your color, then you have the "special Make-up" we wear. Spend some time going through the photos here on PL, roll the dice and look around, you'll find beautiful girls of all colors, all sizes, with all different hair.

 

Everyone is welcome in this scene and on this site, unless they are the person who told you you have to be white to be a pin up, we don't like close minded ass-hats here.
