This is such a small community. Why are some models so rude and snotty? They don't seem to realize that the average looking guy might be the one who could give them their big break. If you are rude to one person, that person is going to tell everyone he or she knows about you and how unpleasant you are. And it's girls from California that are the biggest offenders.
And on a side note, getting hammered at sponsored events where you are a participant is not a good idea!

Thanks Roxy! I was kinda smarting from the California remark because (I'm no model but...) we're not all rude here. I understand how frustrating rudeness is, I have a cynical Hannibal Lecter way about it. I think rudeness is everywhere though and people who don't like it should either be pushing it aside with kidness or taking it to the streets (lol). To each their own.

There are so many sweet, kind, professional models out there, and yes, even here in California, that there should be no reason to ever have to work with anyone rude. I think that there should be some kind of list... kind of a threat, you know. If you're rude you might end up on it then no one will want to work with you. It might keep everyone on their best behavior.

I have met many super nice models, and hope to meet many more. This scene is just too small for that type of negative behavior.
You people here on PL are are great, and I am also from California. Unfortunately, the California girls have a bad reputation for being stuck up and rude. The bands I was talking to at the after party last night ALL brought that up, although they were all very impressed with the girl who won the pinup contest, Shelby, who is also from California, but is sometimes embarrassed to admit it because of the reputation. They kept saying she wasn't like the other California girls at the contest at all!

One thing that surprised me about PL when I first joined is that I never came across a rude or snotty comment
(of course I haven't read them all, but in general...) and since I became a member a year ago, I haven't gotten one myself, either... WOW! That is amazing to me!

If you guys wanna see some rude and snotty behaviour, try a swedish website simular to this one...
(which, come to think about it, might include that you have to learn some swedish first... LOL)

I'm not goint to repeat LISA LOVE's words of wisdom!
You go girl!! Well spoken!!
This is sad to hear, especially since in my experience - you are lovely.

Luckily, you have choices. Being the designer is a great place to be, since you can chose who you hire. There is only one of you, and plenty of us. As a model, I try to remember that ever chance encounter and interaction is essentially a job interview. :)
Don't worry about it. People think whatever they want regaurdless if you think about it. Society as a whole is going down and you're right Californica girls get a bad stuck up rap, but we have so much here to disprove it too. You should never be embarrassed about admitting where you're from it's a piece of you. :)

I have to say, I did meet some pretty awesome girls there, and one in particular, who is brand new, won Miss Congeniality. I'm not sure what her pinup name will be, but I gave her a PL card and told her to join right away.
As far as the average guy giving the big break, my photographer is not much to look at. He's a great guy with a good personality. He tries to make the shoots fun and knows how to make me laugh so the pictures look more natural. We met at work (photography is only part time for him) and after some friendly every day water cooler talk he agreed to help me. He has me posted on several sites and even though I haven't gotten any jobs, he has helped me with learning to pose and getting my confidence up. If I had waited around for prince charming with a camera I'd still be waiting.
As far as the snootyness goes. We are what we are, beautiful, average, plain, etc. This is a lifestyle and not every can be born with perfect features and not everyone can afford to buy them either. I was in a contest with other amature models to win a calendar cover, photo shoot, and trip to Ireleand. Most of the girls had pictures that were not done professionally, had some less than attractive features, and were just there to have fun. But this one girl who has started making a name for herself was extremely stuck up. She looked like she lived in a gym, her pics were expensive, she either had a professional do her hair and makeup or spent hours on it, and her pictures were airbrushed. She and her fans kept making comments on how us other ladies needed to take more pride in ourselves an dspend more money on making ourselves look good. Well that is easy to say when you are already there and not a single mom who spends all her money on bills and kids. I was there to have fun, and yes there were girls I looked better than and those who looked better than me (without the extra cost ms. airbrushed spent). When I entered the contest I wished everyone good luck. I really wanted to win, but I knew I wasn't the only one there who deserved it. I just wish the host of the contest would have pulled the models who were negative. I do this for fun. I know I will probably never make it on the cover of a magazine and that only my friends will buy my calendar, but I do it because I like the way I feel when I get in front of the camera. I wish everyone the best; models, photographers, hair and makeup artist, and the bands/musicians on here.
I just got called a "F****** b****" by some a****** in the library so rudeness is not just limited to California...I really do hate this city. Getting called a b**** because you reserved a computer? Yeah, that's really classy. Why can't people here grow up? I hate the guys in this city they're always rude jerks.

Sorry I know this hasn't much to do with the topic but I'm very shaken that some a****** who I do not know would call me a "b****" so easily. I don't understand how people can so rude.
Pfft, how rude! Shake it off hun, he's just an unhappy bitter man and you're a doll.

Because some people confuse "internet famous" with "real famous."
