Okay, I'm blushing from Raven Foxx's comments...
It was fun watching the youtube clip. It's been so long since I've watched any of her stuff.
I can't remember the bio I read. I'll have to dig through my books to see if I still have it.
Her bob was definitely part of her. Tame by today's standards, but a real statement back in the day.
In a lot of ways I think she was her own worse enemy. She was definitely fiery but I don't know that she knew how to pick her battles well. In many ways Clara Bow was, I think, as mercurial, but able to keep things together a little better. (but not much...)
She really was a hell of dame. And she shares the number one spot in my list of the most beautiful women to ever grace the silever screen. The other one is Cyd Charisse, but that's a topic for another day...

I just love reading Filmmonkey's comments. They are always well thought out and informative. How does one follow that? So, I'm here to simply say, welcome to PL! There are so many different styles and people here, it's hard not to get completely addicted!

It is pretty rare for TCM to run her stuff. They'll run like three of her movies and the looking for lulu doc all in a row, and then nothing for years.
Certainly, the films she did with GW Pabst "made her", but they are just so depressing and dark. For me, it's when she smiles that does it.
I've never been able to find the canary murders one. And I've only seen excerpts from it.
She was definitely a bright spark...
