I was a little girl, and i saw a movie. It was called Gypsy, and it was on channel 2, which was the only local channel on the TV back in the early 70's. We had about 5 channels until around 1974 I think - not completely sure when cable arrived. Anyway, this movie came on, and Mom had it on and we watched it, and like they did then, they played it a few times that week, and we watched it, and Mom said, "Your Dad trained her pony."

My Dad trained horses back in the day - there are pics with my dad and Gypsy; my sister has them, hopefully - and my mom loved musical theater - she was a pianist, but settled down after marriage.

It was the 70's and the little girl exposed to glamour from B&W flicks and the idea that when *I* grew up I could be this were dashed, I turned to the New Glamour, that was Punk, that was Metal, That was Performance; do you paint; do you sculpt; do you Worship Strange Gods Because All Of This Is Art.

I am so happy to live to see that the categories don't matter anymore.

Once they did.

You could not be smart and desirable/attractive

You could not be a man who felt and were strong

You could throw away the past and still learn from it...

Maybe I am too hopefull. I would love to see people less likely to buy crap with CC or LV on it, but well made items they like, or better yet, create that stuff on their own.

Gypsy made me think of myself - my sister was the Golden Girl; Baby June - was Momma talking to me? i never asked - she saw I liked things raunchy, and we never connected well as I got older - there was so much shame then connected with being female.

I so Love Gypsy
