I enjoyed my day off from school today. I like having days off, it's like your own time machine...you get to catch up on things like time is standing still for a moment. What isn't good about holidays is when people have to work. These days are observed for a reason. Even if you use the time to do nothing or call friends or hang out with family. It's your time to do that. Stores see it as an extra day for sales. Then people come in on those days and then more businesses open on holidays. The corperate offices are closed, while everyone else has to work. When do those people get to spend time with loved ones? Why do people put money first now? It's frusterating. I worked at a drug store for 5 years. Guess who worked the holidays? I don't want to have to work another holiday. I missed out on so much with people I love because of that. You may never get that time back with those people. It came time for me to quit, for this and other reasons, and take the chance of being broke. I get to spend time with those I cherish and love. That's worth more to me.
