Whoaaaaaaaaaaaa its been a truly crazy 2 weeks or so since this whole illegal expropriation thing and city meetings, presentations galore. We have submitted our own recommendations to the city .We certainly added a lot of colour to the presentations -what with our corsets, and sexy boots.lol We were quite nervous to present since all the other presentations came from architects and urban planning experts .With our memorandum, we decided to speak about the burlesque scene, body politics as represented in the venue by the strip club itself and the cabaret venue .We also referenced things happening in Vancouver and Denver .The audience was actually very quiet and listening unlike during some of the other ones where the audience talked and made their own comments while the presenters spoke. now lets see what happens ..sigh..
So the Dead Dolls ,Clubsin and other marginalized artists who happily perform at Cleopatra and the wonderful folks of Stella who do interventions and help with sex workers have joined to gether to form the Red Alert Artists coalition .
Following the presentation of a revitalization plan of the Quadrilatère Saint-Laurent by Societe Development Angus (SDA) we’ve formed an artistic coalition with the objective of promoting our rights and assets in order to conciliate the colorfulness of Montreal’s "Red Light" district with the proposed plan of erecting an administrative office building within an area designated as Quartier des Spectacles de Montréal.Help us integrate the creative spirit of the last 5 years at Cabaret Cleo’s within a constructive, honest and positive plan to revitalize Montreal’s legendary “Main”.
