Along Came a Spider...

When I was little, I always ran to get someone to kill the bugs & spiders for me. My mom always said "they are more afraid of you, than you are of them" so then I started to kill them myself. I would trap them to go get a high heel to impale them with, or freeze them with hair spray. As I got older the hair spray would be teamed up with a lighter. The whole time I would yell at the spiders "sorry, but this is my house" or "don't hate me, you knew what was going to happen if you walked in front of me." Now, I do the same thing...without a word or noise. I sneak up on them & squash them. Why does this matter? Well, as I got older, I also had to deal with more ridicule & tormenting from peers & teachers. I still deal with it. At work, college, the public holds many people who think it's their place to judge. I don't get bothered by it much. My mom told me when I got teased it was because "they are more afraid of you than you are of them, they want to make you afraid of them so they can control you." I have been told quite a few times lately that I'm a really nice person, that I'm not so scarry when someone gets to know me. This makes me laugh. I never try to portray a mean or violent person. I just be me. In this area(I'm not from here) there aren't many here who look like me. I guess this is why I get treated like a spider. I don't mind because Those who know me, know I'm only mean when it's needed.
