40's square meals

So one of my hobbies is collecting cook books, I go to yardsales or hand-me-downs from different people I'm always on the look out for new treassures to add to my collection. With that said, I recently came across this wonderful book called Square Meals and couriosly enough is published by Knopf same publishers that published Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Childs. It's a very interesting book I'm almost done reading it and can't wait to get out for a test drive on my Lab (kitchen).

The book is devided into 6 sections: Ladies Lunch, Lunch Counter Cooking, Sunday Dinner, Nursery Food, Victory Dinner, The Cuisine of Suburbia.It teaches you a lot about 1940 war and post war cuisine and therefore also the lifestyle of that wonderful time. So I thought it would be nice to share some of the recipes with you all, so if this is something you would like to check out leave me a comment :).
