Behind the Burly Q

I began kicking around the idea of relaunching Simply Burlesque last week once I figured out the mission of my freelance writing business. I've been fascinated with the art form since I was a child, but didn't really become apart of it (if only tangentially as a journalist and historian) until my senior year in college. That year I saw my first live burlesque show at World Cafe Live in Philly. The Peek-A-Boo Revue was the troupe I had the privilege of seeing and they were an amazing throwback… Continue

My act consists of: Well so far the one proper act I did was a routine based on my Islamic heritage (http://vimeo.com/5000091). It boggles the mind that more people interested in entertainment in general, but especially dance aficionados, aren’t clamoring to preserve this genre. With that in… Continue

Top 25 Best Burlesque Web sites

Originally, this piece was supposed to be a Top 10 list; however, once I got into researching them all, there were so many great ones that I couldn’t just narrow it down to 10. While all of the Web pages are special and well thought out, I was looking for sites that popped – sites that had designs or content like no other or… Continue
