- I like to play dress up even when the occasion doesn't call for it. I've been fascinated by the forties since I was a very little girl. My mother had a friend who had a closet full of beautiful antique clothes and shoes from that era that were stunning and I was in love. Unfortunately, I was never able to fit in any of them as I was a bit heavier at the time (even as a young girl). Later in college, the swing dance scene became big and I convinced my boyfriend at the time (now my husband) to go dancing with me. We got into it and started going almost every weekend. We took the opportunity to dress the part and really get into it. Later when we both lost some weight (about 60lbs each), and I could finally fit into some of the vintage outfits, my love for the era was again renewed. I feel like I am reliving it all as a whole new person.
