I'm a Los Angeles native, having grown up in downtown LA. I grew up with a camera always pointed at me (my dad the avid photographer like all parents) and picked up one a few times early on. I'm certain I broke a few of them before my 5th birthday.

I remember two cameras the most: a black, boxy Polaroid that my dad hung by a guitar he never played and a silver rectangular point and shoot I picked up at Rite Aid in 7th grade. I still have my dad's old Canon AE-1, even if it doesn't work anymore.

I enjoy shooting portraits the most, looking to capture the essential character of a person. A photograph should tell you a story about who a person is at that moment in time. It is a narrative worth 1000 words.

I was most influence by the 40s and 50s film style known as film noir. It fascinates me how the addition and subtraction of light can focus or defocus your subject.
