"Down a side street in Southwark sits a hairdressers' that would make most modern stylists run screaming. Nestled within the walls of the Cut & Clipper salon is Nina's Hair Parlour, Britain's first vintage hair salon. Scattered around the shop are pictures of immaculately coiffed starlets - Lauren Bacall, Gene Tierney and Olivia de Havilland - all shampooed and set to within an inch of their lives. Original hood dryers bulge ominously from the walls and sinister gas-heated tongs from the 1920s rest on art deco cabinets packed with pillbox hats. Edith Piaf trills softly in the background. It is like Toni & Guy never existed..." The Guardian

Do you love the idea of real glamour and decadence that was the hallmark of yesteryear?

Creating spellbinding vintage, retro and postmodern looks is my passion. I've been doing it for the past 15 years, working alongside fashion photographers, film makers and the performers of London's burlesque scene, recreating those looks. I am also a period style consultant for the Young Vic Theatre and have been working on many magazines and fashion shows here and abroad.

I would be delighted to share my skills with people who enjoy the exotic, theatrical and glamourous, or those who just want to have a little fantasy or take a fun journey of true self expression to another era. I work with hair, make up, hats and headwear and can also help with styling, providing clothing and props.Pricelist is available on my website.

In addition, Nina's Hair Parlour is the first UK specialist vitage/retro hair/make up salon.We stock a number of handpicked, rare and original period hats from the 1930's-1960's, extravagant, unique hair accessories and Retro L'Amour snoods, all of which are available for sale and hire.

I'm looking for a retro hair and makeup artist for my wedding and I've had you recommended ,many times; problem is that with travel expenses (I'm in Devon - Exeter) I'm afraid you're out of my budget. If it's not too cheeky, can I ask if you can recommend anyone in my area?

Hi!
I came and got my hair cut and styled the week before last by you and it was amazing! Lovely lovely place, smashing people and wonderous hair result!
I'm just putting up some photos from my mum's wedding (the day after I got my hair styled at your lovely establishment) and I think it turned out rather well even after being slept on!
I'll definitely be coming back and shall bring a few friends with me!

Hello! thanks very much for getting back to me...I've booked an appointment with you for a cut and set on 12th June (12 noon). I can't wait! I am seriously so excited, I've never really done anything with my hair before and I know you'll do a fantastic job. It's my mum's wedding day the next day so fingers crossed the style will hold until then.

I'll give your Veronica Lake tips a go...I had some heated rollers delivered last week so I'll get cracking.
