Tell us a little about yourself! (details or get declined)
Erica Hesse is an artist born and raised in South Jersey, despite contrary belief everything you've heard about Jersey girls are untrue. While some Jersey gals are boozing and cruzin', getting into bar fights, and over-tanning, this girl prefers to stay out of the sun and concentrate on drawing the ladies. Erica loves to create art in the form of, but not limited to: pin-up, burlesque, roller derby, horror, hot rod, and comic book related art.

About nine or ten years old, Hesse would religiously riding her bike to the local news stand about twice a week to pick up the latest issue of Archie Digest Comics. Noticing how her favorite characters Betty and Veronica were drawn, not realizing that her earliest influences for creating pin up art were the works of Dan DeCarlo and Stan Goldberg. As Hesse got older and got more interested in the origins of modern pin-up, she discovered a plethora of other artists in the photography and painting of pin-ups. The likes of Bunny Yeager, Gil Elvgren, George Petty, Alberto Vargas, and Alphonse Mucha which instantly became inspiring to her.

Hesse exhibits her art at several comic book conventions and art shows a year, and is looking forward to making future appearances at tattoo, classic car, and horror conventions. Most people know her as the girl that illustrates roller derby, burlesque, and pinup girls, since she has created several posters and logos for the Arizona Roller Derby Association, Charm City Rollergirls, and the Orlando Psycho City Derby Girls to name a few. Hesse has also done several burlesque posters for the Infamous Chaz Royal, a brand logo for Retrotease.net, and snippet of her work is featured in the Burlesque Poster Design, the Art of Tease book. Most of her more recent pinup retro toons are featured regularly in PinUp America magazine. Hesse's looking to self publish her first pin-up/art book as well, tentatively titled "Girls, Girls, Girls! and more". The female figure has always been what Hesse has considered to be one of the most beautiful forms in nature. So when combined with fantasy, playfulness, and naughtiness they allow her to express how she feels when drawing girls.

Besides illustrating lovely ladies, Erica is a fan favorite in the independent comics industry. Recently published works is her art piece in Voltron: United and Drawn, sketch cards for Billy Tucci's Shi, Archie's Josie and the Pussycats, Zenescope's Grimm Fairy Tales, Jim Palmiottil's Painkiller Jane, and Sheena Queen of the Jungle, by 5finity. In the past she's done sketch cards for Marvel Masterpieces III and various pin-ups for independent comic books. Currently, she's self-publishes her own comic book, "The Key" with writer Chris Holt.

In Hesse's spare time she likes to read comics, pin-up, burlesque, hot rod, horror, and low-brow art related books. She collects designer vinyl toys, comic book statues, art prints, and original art. When she's not collecting, you may catch her at the nearest coffee shop to rejuvenate her deviant brain. If you so happen to see her in such a place, use extreme caution when approaching. There's an old Urban Legend that she's been known to eye a cup of coffee like a tiger eyes its prey, and the results are not pretty.
