- Ever since I was a little girl, I have had an inescapable draw toward my eccentric side. By the age of 7, I had a large collection of vintage hats, gloves, jewelry, aprons and other accessories, which I regularly wore to school and my dance lessons. Over the years, my style has evolved and changed more times than I can remember, but the key element I have always maintained is this: I treat every day and every clothing choice as a chance to "dress up." Where most people reserve this type of preparation and dedication to their "look" for special occasions or evenings out on the town, I try to maintain my look in everyday wear. This has not only taught me how to be creative and have a great eye for style, but perhaps more importantly, it has encouraged me to become an accomplished seamstress. I now make most of my clothes, since I can never find exactly what I'm looking for in stores. About two years ago, my style took on yet another form-- something I would like to call modern 1950's pinup/Lolita. The way I would describe this is, during the day, I dress in more casual 1950's garb (think circle skirts, cigarette pants, scarves, and cardigans), but when I go out at night, my more sultry and exotic side comes out (think wiggle dresses in leopard print with tulle ruffles). No matter what, I go NOWHERE without my scorpion brooch and aqua blue authentic vintage cateye sunglasses.
I finally put my style to work a little over a year ago, when I started my own (very small) company over here in Italy specializing in vintage reproduction style aprons with a modern, freaky twist. I have my own Etsy shop, am a member of the Veganetsy Team, and have had items featured on several other blogs and websites. With my designs (and amateur photography), I try to capture the spirit of the 1950's housewife, but with a modern, sassy twist. You can visit my shop to see, if you like, at www.bashley.etsy.com
I have never done any pinup modeling, but would someday like to try it, as well as do some tattoo modeling. One of my inspirations in the pinup modeling world, and someone to whom I aspire to be like is Bernie Dexter.
