Charlie, Steve and Dan had been jamming together for fun since February 2006. The actual idea of forming a band started in Ken Kuykendal's little second-story apartment bedroom; playing on crude instruments and learning cover songs. As time passed and a few originals were written, we realized this group might have something to offer outside that little bedroom. The band you see today came together in June 2007. Looking to create our "own-unique" sound, Bill B. and Bill H. joined and completed what is today called the Wooden Nickel Band. The songs on our debut album"Making Change" are original songs written by Charlie Smith. The CD was recorded at The Sound Port Recording Studio in Grass Valley, Ca. and was mastered at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios in L.A. The full CD is now available on our MySpace and .com websites. We're performing about once every month or two right now, so stay tuned.
