I love Star Trek. I discovered science fiction through the Original Series. So of course, it was only a matter of time before I did a pinup featuring that sexy, if impractical, female uniform from the Original Series.
When deciding on a model for my pinup, I considered Janice Rand (Grace Lee Whitney) and Lieutenant Uhura (Nichelle Nichols). In the end, I decided I wanted a Vulcan. Since we didn’t meet any other Starfleet Vulcans, much less female ones, in the original series, I created my own.
Regarding the background, I considered featuring a number of spots on the ship, but I kept coming back to the bridge of the Enterprise. I know it looks like it was rendered with 3D software, but that isn’t the case. I created it entirely in Illustrator and Photoshop, though I did cheat a little and used a Sketchup model to aide in the composition.
