Honoring Memorial Day: A national day of observance to remember and honor those who have died in battle.  These Americans have given the ultimate sacfrice.  One that they all know is a possibility when they sign up to serve us fellow Americans, but a sacrifice we hope they don't have to make. Over the decades this has been celebrated in many ways.  Wearing the Red Poppy, placing flags on the gravestones of the fallen, Parades, and other memorial services.  Sadly, when the holiday was changed from May 30th to the last Monday in May, a lot of meaning was lost to many Americans.  It often becomes the first three-day weekend of the summer and the camping, BBQ's, and home improvement ensues.  Over the years senators have lobbied to have the date changed back to May 30th.  It gets turned down, but it would be of great benefit to our country's understanding of the holiday if we were able to get the date changed back: http://www.usmemorialday.org/act.html

On a personal note - The Pinup Angels hold nothing but love and respect for all of our fallen soldiers, veterans, and currently serving military no matter where they are.  As a veteran myself, I hold a heavy heart on Memorial Day.  As a volunteer with The Pinup Angels, I take a moment to remember the day when we got a letter from a wife of a Soldier that we were supporting that he had been killed in action.  She said that our support was always appreciated and made a difference.  While we want them all to come home safe, we are at war and this is a sad part of it. 

If you have the desire and the means, take the time to support our men and women in uniform any way you can.
