I think it would be awesome if we all shared a beauty secret or two:

  • I've found using Kesari Indian Hair oil gives me the silkiest, shiniest and frizz free hair I have ever had.
  • Exfoliate your lips regularly and when applying lipstick always start with a lip balm. Apply the lipstick from the tube and blot- then reapply using a lip brush for color that lasts a good 8 hours.
  • Try to avoid sodas and other sugary drinks and you WILL notice a huge difference in your skin! (Water is amazing for detox!)
  • When doing a cats eye I use a tawny powder first to make sure I get the wing right then I go over it with a liquid or gel liner

Do you guys have any beauty secrets?

-After I am done brushing my teeth, I brush my lips gently with my tooth brush to "exfoliate" - this is a must for a regular lipstick wearer!

-My skin is sensitive and doesn't take well to harsh chemicals in lotions and facewashes. I make myself natural oatmeal masks with oatmeal and honey, and for facewash I love to make a sugar scrub with sugar and olive oil.

-I've never drank the stuff, but ground up coffee beans mixed with olive oil makes for an AMAZING body scrub/exfoliater when I take a shower - my skin feels AMAZING afterwards and the smell is lovely!

-I never ever sleep in my makeup, and I have a crazy lotion routine I go through after every shower.

Those are my little beauty secrets! Great post, and I think I am going to have to try the hair oil you mentioned!

Sadly, my secrets aren't that secret as every woman shares them with me.

Though, if I think of something I do that's out of the ordinary, I'll post it up! Looking forward to reading what other lovely ladies do with their daily routine. :)

Great tips and hints ladies!

One inexpensive method that has always worked for me to get the smoothest skin on my face (would probably work allover) is spoiled milk.  It sounds gross to use spoiled milk, but once the milk begins to curdle and you spread the chunky part on your face, leave it on for about 10 minutes (hold your breath j/k) and then wash it off...you will be amazed at how smooth your skin feels and how it glows . I also use hot /warm coffee to exfoliate my face and olive oil and or avocado as moisturizer (for skin and hair). Oh and I nearly forgot... warm beer and egg yolks do some amazing things to hair too.

I hope you try out these tips and let me know what your experiences are.

Have a great weekend!

Olive oil pre treatment on my hair. I work straight up olive oil into the lengths of my hair (not so much the roots) at least an hour before washing it (even better overnight if possible) then wash and condition as normal. I do this about once a month and have hair long enough to sit on, it really keeps it under control and not fluffy.

Oh and cold rinse in the shower...as cold as you can stand it. It smooths hair and keeps colour in longer

Ema, how do you use the hair oil?  as conditioner, or after conditioner?  what type of hair do you have?  mine needs help!

Mica

After you shower and towel dry I put about 4 drops in my hair! It smooths all my flyaways and gives it a gorgeous shine! My hair is thick and a little on the oily side but this serum is fabulous and doesn't make it greasy or leave a buildup!

I use plain old baking soda as a facial scrub, once a week in the shower, and jojoba oil as a moisturizer after I wash my face every night (I just use water to wash). Pure Vitamin E oil (from a health food store) is really great for treating blemishes and cutting down on healing time, I've found.

great thread! i love all the beauty staff and can`t get enough! *lol*

here`s my list:

- i have red hair, dyed with manic panic. it washes out so fast and my best experience was, to wash my hair with a natural shampoo without silicone in it before dying. i also let the colour about 2 hours on my hair for longer lasting and wash it out with vinegar/water-mix. this is the best combination to care for my hair colour and it lasts about 4 weeks with a super bright red!

- i always hated to put lipstick on my lips and then if you eat or drink, its just going away. so i never wore lipstick.. till i found lipsense! i was searching for a pinkish red lipstick for my wedding day last year and i didn`t found anything good here in my country. so i did a search on the net and found a LOT of good reviews about the lipsense. so i`d gave it a chance and it worked very well. i only reapplied it once on my wedding day and this with so much kissing, drinking and eating.. it was perfect. now my lipsense collection has growing with two red shades and one light pink for every day! i just love it because i feel so much more like a woman with lipstick on! best red shades are: cranberry and blu-red if anybody is interessted!

- i always have had bad skin... it was so damn annoying because i have to do so much make-up over it and it still doesen`t looked good..! once i`ve read an article on the net from a girl who has tried to clean their skin with an disinfectant for hands and she did it 3 weeks along. her skin turned into really clean and beautiful skin! i just was thinking of that i can`t loose anything if i give it a try and so here we are, it worked for me too!! my skin is on a healthy way and gets very clear, i didn`t have to do so much make up over it because all the pimples and spots are gone! i just do it with a cotton pad, moistened with hot water and the disinfectant and sweep all over my face, i do this till the cotton pads are clean. for better results you should do it in the morning and in the evening before you go to bed.

and the last one: sock curls!! yay, just sleep over it and you have glamourous curls on the other day! i really like to do this, your hair looks so healthy, because you dont need heat or curlers or anything like that! hope you like it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXsCxRjPFw4

When you say hand disinfectant do you mean like Purell? That is really interesting I've never heard that before! I can see how it would work though since pimple and other skin nasties are caused by bacteria and such. I think I might try this!

Ema, thanks for the hair info.  I'll have to try it.  ;)

@Aura re skin breakouts, I don't doubt there's something to the disinfectant approach b/c with breakouts it's hard not to deal with them however, and nobody sterilizes their hands before that, so the germ factor can make it get worse.  I had terrible skin growing up and it's gotten better as I've gotten older.  I've used Neosporin on breakouts/blemishes and that's helped healing.  I also bought up a ton of tea-tree oil sticks (they come in lipstick tube form) from a cheap mail-order beauty catalog.  The tea-tree oil sticks--and a tea-tree oil facial wash both seem to help, but Neosporin seems to work faster on healing blemishes.
