Personally, I like to hunt for vintage. In the 50s and 60s it was quite common for people to have tiki decor. In the 70s and 80s, a lot of people discarded it when it was out of fashion and you can pick up a lot of tiki decor at vintage shops and sometimes thrift shops and Garage sales. I bought my tiki bar, with 3 stools, for $200 from Craigslist. The guy who sold it to me had it in his frat house but his wife wouldn't let him put it in the house, so it was in his garage for years.

Most of my mugs I found at the Goodwill. I bought a set of 6 short brown Trader Vics mugs from Ebay for about 3.99 plus shipping in 2002.

My friend's husband makes custom bark clothe/bamboo hanging tiki lamps and wall sconces and sells them. He furnished tiki bars all over the country with their lamps, including Forbidden Island in Alameda. If you want to know how to reach him and see his stuff, I can post a link. He does custom orders only.

You might want to sign up for the website forum www.tikicentral.com and I'm sure there are people in your area who can help you.
Rock-a-billy related car shows will have few vendors selling ....c
CRAIGSLIST is good....swap meets are my favorite places to shop.
The TIKI FARM usually does a clearance sale somewhere down in orange county once a year. You can get some great deals on overstock & seconds, plus they get some of their "tiki friends" to join in and sell some carvings & art. It makes for a fun afternoon.
Oceanic Arts in Whitter has bamboo & other great supplies for an island theme.
I agree, eBay is great for things like fishing nets and other background items. You never know what you'll find at a yardsale.

They're having a sale on thatch and other items. They also carry carved tikis, mugs, etc
NEVER under estimate your local thrift shop. If there is a Value Village or Goodwill in your area I suggest you go there. I have found so many awesome bits and pieces at thrift shops. Tiki stuff can be really expensive online. Some of the prices I've seen are crazy. Ebay is always a good option and if the item isn't too big then shipping costs are reasonable.

Good luck!
well I think where your at is more than a few hours away from palmdale but there is a thrift store out here that has a few cools ones tiki poles and masks hidden away in the back if your willing to make the drive.
Oceanic Arts - one of the original suppliers.
I just built this Tiki-themed treasury on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list_west.php?room_id=80289

Every item is vintage or one-of-a-kind, so take a look sooner rather than later!
i hunt 4 my tikis at thrift shops... we have ONCE found some on craigslist and drove to the next town, to get them, and almost died on the way., my rim unbolted from my drum, on my car AS we pulled into a tire shop, and noticed the issue 1/2hour earlier... SOS, the tikis saved us!!
