SO yeah what is up with Hollywood? I mean whats up with doin films that have been already done? come on there are tons of people that are out there that have ideas to do something new so why can't we do that instead of doin remakes. remaking movies that have already been done? Why? its been done so leave it alone.
I mean i can see that you watched a movie that you liked as a kid and know you can make movies, why make one that has already been made. I get it that may of been the movie that made you want to become a director or a producer i really get that. but really make a new movie in the series, dont remake it. make it your own and something new to the series.

And another poin i want to make why do some movies get remade and others do not?

well okay my rant is done but really why can't they come up with new stuff i mean if you can't come up with your own character thats fine just make a new chapter for that character not a repeat.

thank you.

I love it when a movie has been re-made 3 or 4 times. Once in the 40's, then in the 60's, again in the 80's... I mean come on! Yes, they are great movies, but we've seen them.

I agree, some more new stuff would be great. Although, the younger generations might not watch those great movies, or even know about them if they weren't re-made.

Double edged sword I guess....
Ok here's your answer...it's becuase I'm not in Hollywood. Yes they need me and my 10 million original ideas (that are threatening to burst outta my head right now)..I was just on the subway writing another (original) script..and YES I'm an arrogant b****. : P
If only I had the money..
okay as to what you said, i don't think it is true, think about it there are some great movies that i have came accross and it is not like it was in my generation or even my parents generation. but i am not saying that they can't look at what has already been made and get ideas to help there story along.

perfect examples:

Mr. & Ms. Smith i mean they both took different look at the main point of the film. and that was falling in love all over again for the one that you fell in love with the first place.

gone in 60 seconds kinda the same but different stories delt with other stuff then just stealing cars, and i believe the original was just to steal cars no other reasion at all.

the mummy, that two was different from the original it was like two different kinda movies that have the same title. they shair some what the same plot but the story goes differently.

and also with what you said then wouldn't they want to make the classics over for new generations to see such as gone with the wind, casablanca, e.t. you get the point.

so maybe if they wanted to bring to light to one of there favorite films instead of remaking it, take a different spin make a new film and bring light to the old films or something like that.

well you do know that you don't have to be in hollywood to sell a script! lol you should go to the wga and regester your script if your a member its $10 if your not its $20 and it is regestered and protected for like 5 to 10 years and you can also do the poor man way to protect your work just mail it to your self from the post office and don't open it. well yeah. just some advice. take it or leave it.

well yeah lets see here the main point why i desided to reply, so what kinda script is it? i am an actor so i am ways looking for good work, also money as long as you have a camera and know what you want you can always garila it. lol. well i also write as well so if you would like we can always toss ideas off each other to help when we get stuck. well take care.

You are so dead on with this

I am always saying the same thing.

Like King Kong. WTF??!!

Mr. & Mrs. Smith... still haven't seen it.. Reminds me too much of the one with Arnold S. (I'm not even going to TRY to type that name) and Jamie Lee Curtis.

I am sorry, but it does Angelina, in my opinion is kind of tired.. And you cannot beat Jamie Lee Curtis doing a striptease in that movie...

I love watching old movies and am shocked and amazed at how good they are. The plots and everything.

Hollywood, like everything is about money.

It seems like the good stuff is usually documentaries or Indy films, you know.

Big blockbusters are a joke.

Ok I have rambled on, but I am glad to know I am not alone in this thinking.

Let's riot!!
Ok I've been thinking about this so I wanted to add something here..I think the film industry really needs to diversfy. There are still way too many white, middle class men writing and directing all these movies. Whenever you get just ONE group dominating an industry of course it's going to become stale and mediocre. We only have one group telling their stories from their point of view. That needs to change if they want better ORIGINAL movies. I'm NOT saying that these guys need to retire but they need to welcome NEW talented people no matter what their background.
For example I went to film school in North Vancouver I was ONE of only THREE girls in a class of about 30 and the ONLY Hispanic person there. This is NOT a good sign. And to make it worse the guys did'nt even acknowledge my EXISTENCE. They treated me like I wasn't there and talked about the girls in the acting course as if they were just sex toys. Needless to say that attitude needs to CHANGE!!
That's my rant for now! Gotta go back to work...
