Hey PL which one will you be celebrating?

Valentine's Day VS. Anti-Valentine's Day

I love Chocolates, Flowers, and Laces and things .... but why designate one day for it?
It's so much pressure.... Run to the flower shop to Buy over priced Roses, Go get Yummy chocolates, and make dinner reservations! and still have to wait 2 hours to eat!
It's great when your Valentine goes threw the trouble to make you feel special but really we have 365 days in the year why go balls out one day outta the year?
I love it staying home and Cooking up a storm making a special Dinner and desert for my special valentine...It just feels like Giving Gifts, Flowers, & Chocolates has become mandatory.
Let's Cut the crap and get to the point.....I just wanna make sweet love to you OK!

"In ancient Rome, February was the official beginning of spring and was considered a time for purification. Houses were ritually cleansed by sweeping them out and then sprinkling salt and a type of wheat called spelt throughout their interiors. Lupercalia, which began at February 15, was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture, as well as to the Roman founders Romulus and Remus.
To begin the festival, members of the Luperci, an order of Roman priests, would gather at the sacred cave where the infants Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome, were believed to have been cared for by a she-wolf or lupa. The priests would then sacrifice a goat, for fertility, and a dog, for purification.
The boys then sliced the goat's hide into strips, dipped them in the sacrificial blood and took to the streets, gently slapping both women and fields of crops with the goat hide strips. Far from being fearful, Roman women welcomed being touched with the hides because it was believed the strips would make them more fertile in the coming year. Later in the day, according to legend, all the young women in the city would place their names in a big urn. The city's bachelors would then each choose a name out of the urn and become paired for the year with his chosen woman. These matches often ended in marriage."

~Call me crazy but being slapped with strips of hide dipped in blood is HAWT!" JK~

Me, too! I'm getting together with My Boy, but we've agreed on no gifts, no special dinner, nor any other holiday-related crap. I can't stand Valentine's Day! How are you celebrating/not celebrating?

very educational, and i hope to celebrate valentines day
My boy and I are going to see Wicked. He's so sweet!
Hmm. This has made me realise I need to establish whether my boy has plans, lest I forget, think 'bugger it', and am left embarrassed and outdone when presented with something lovely and thoughtful.
Dang it! 14th of February really does provide stress, n'est-ce pas?
*sigh* i'm probably not doing anything again for valentine's day. my boyfriend is still gone in Iraq or somewhere and i don't know if he will be back by then.
Last year for Valentine's day i got myself LASIK, best money I ever spent!
I'm all for Valentines Day. Woot woot.
Anyone buying me a burger would TOTALLY BE my VAlentine!
