Do any of you ladies (or gentlemen) have any experience of a perm?

I have been doing pin curls etc for years but getting sick of my fine straight hair when it's not in curls, I'm also sick of doing pin curls. So I'm thinking about doing a perm to get some curls and volume. I'm aware of that I would prolly still have to pin curl it into shape but I'm thinking that a perm would make them last longer and also on days when I don't set it, it won't look so straight and fine. I have hair to my shoulders now.

So have any of you ever done a perm or do you have any suggestions, should I do it or not...?

My mom used to perm my hair (in the 80's) so for years I was totally against it. But now a days they are much better! If I didn't dye my hair so often I would get at least a body wave, if not a full curl one.

I haven't had a perm since the late 80s! But I'm a guy so that should be expected...

Just make sure you go to a stylist that knows a lot about modern techniques so you get exactly what you are looking for and not the 80s poodle perm! Good Luck!! Post pics...I'm thinking about it too!

LOL

Yup. I have not dyed my hair in months, so I should be good to go. This is the first time since I was 14 that I have had my natural hair color grow so long, I kinda like it actually :)

Yeah, that's what I'm dreading, I absolutely do not want the 80's curls, LOL! I was gonna go ask around a little. I'll post pics if I ever go through with it.

My Mom used to to perm my hair when I was in Junior High. My hair was very straight and had zero body- I really wanted something fun and different. Sadly, I didn't quite know the best way to take care of it (read poodle).

Seems there are much better techniques and products available to get the perfect body wave. I don't think I would perm my hair again since I like to be able to change it up. My curling iron and straightener are my best friends. :)

Thank you for your reply :) I might just try to get my hands on some hot sticks instead actually :)

i would only perm if you plan on keeping your hair short.it damages it terribly

Thank you so much for that reply, I might reconsider.

You're welcome! While it won't be as permanent, it will certainly give you some variety in the hair style department. :)
