Are any of you this extreme? Personally, I don't think I could live like this, but the fashions I could definitely live with.

Apologies if someone you can't watch this - country boundaries might apply. But if you can't here's a quick summary from the website:

"We all find ways to escape the stresses of twenty-first century life. While most people find solace in foreign holidays, exercise or a large glass of wine, some people have found a very different survival strategy: they are retreating into the past.

Sally Hewitt's First Cut film takes a step back in time to meet four women who are desperate to be old-fashioned housewives."

These women are extreme! I'm talking the clothes, the hair, the make up - a lot like us gals here - but also their ideas and morals of a 'domestic goddess' and the outside world.

I looked at the schedule and it turns out that this program is on tonight! Spooky or what?
I just watched it knew there was a thread bout it somewhere so I thought I'd see what it was about. The women are lovely on it but I could never go that extreme, the fashion, retro house and values all fine but can't live without Internet I'm afraid lol plus none of them wanted kids which was strange...

Here's a little more info on this. It's been posted here in the past, and one of the girls, Joanne, is on another forum that I belong to. Here's a link to a story about the girls, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1042702/Time-Warp-Wives-M....

This is from the other site that I am on, regarding this issue, "It got quite a bit of controversy here about a year ago, mostly revolving around quotes from the women involved taken out of context by reporters, making them sound like fantasy-world dimwits. A number of people here decided to pile on and ridicule them, and others got equally sharp from the other side. It wasn't pretty, and the thread is now gone because of it." Let's not have that happen here.

If you haven't read it yet, here is Joanne talking about how the producers were less than sympathetic, aiming to cause more of a public outrage and/or feminist debate. http://timewarpwivesinterviews.blogspot.com/#Joanne%20Massey. If you get to watch it, and you listen closely to the soundtrack on the program, the breaks in the sentences can clearly be heard and more than suggest that a little "doctoring" was done.

All in all, I think these women are amazing. And although I don't think I could live totally vintage, I do admire their dedication. Sometimes I think it would really nice not to have to worry about all the crap going on out there, and just live in a nicer time.
That would be awesome, I think I'd only like to live in that time if I was rich though or well of at least lol
I can imagine the media would have totally twisted it, they like nothing more than to publicly humiliate people or make ppl seem crazy but the women I saw were pretty awesome, I liked how some of them met up, other than on here I don't know anyone who loves the pin up/ vintage lifestyle like I do, man I need some friends lol

I do think the media have sadly twisted this out of proportion and they probably are pretty 'normal' in the modern sense. My parents have friends that do have a completely vintage house and dress completely vintage. However they have the modern morals of today, and although I think that some of the old fashioned morals showed in the show and on the blog posts do need to be observed by today's people, I think that some of their morals seemed a little naive and closed to other options. However this all could be just media spin.

I do recognise Joanne though, I must have seen her at shows out and about :)
