In 2002, I was on the BART and MUNI lines a lot in SF, and kind of locked onto the idea of the third rail as a design inspiration metaphor. Third rail being the one in the subway track system that's electrified. Don't touch it! Anyway, I've been Third Rail Design Lab, or TRDL, ever since...

Hey Thom,Thanks for the info on your name,

I used to work on a few railroads up here in the northeast so yes I know what third rail is.  One of these railroads had overhead wire that carried electricity instead of a third rail.  Same principle, Don't touch!!!

Excellent! Yes, I simplified the explanation, and I'm not an engineer, but we're definitely on the same page. I'm involved in a major component of our state's new high speed rail system and finding out all manner of technological improvements exist over what I am accustomed to.

I just like to draw pin-up girls and super heroes and what not. HA!
