No doubt most here would say, Elvgren, Vargas, Petty.

 

But you'd be wrong.

 

If you define Pin Up as informal art which featured beautiful women, then I would argue that the most influential "pin up" artist of all times would be Patrick Nagel.

 

 

His art literally defined an entire decade.

 

The "Nagel Girl" was inescapable.  She appeared on dorm room walls, Coke advertising, album covers, and prints sold as fine art.  Her iconic image is still synonymous with Playboy.  She became the ne plus ultra of female sexuality and beauty.

 

Nagel's iconic style is still influential today.

 

Most importantly when you see a Nagel, even if you didn't know the artist name, you know it's a Nagel.  Now that powerful.

I'm probably being an idiot here but I haven't heard of him and don't recognise the pictures!
He was a influential part of the 80's for those who do not know who he is. If you lived in the 80's you had some of his art work in your house or your family had some. ;)
