The idea of plus size pin-up girls...Ladies help me out...

Recently I went to a photoshoot that requested for plus size models...(mind you I have a very very small portfolio and new to this modeling world!)
In my mind I figure my size 13 is perfect! I have always thought of my self as a curvy plus size. I know I am no stick figure, and I am crazy ok with that! But NOPE, apparently I was wrong!!

I show up and the women that were there had to be anywhere from a 6 to a 9 with huge boobs. I was kind of taken back when a women walked up to me and asked if I was lost!! Seriously? How rude...

I have always been a fan of Pin-up and its lifestyle not for the size you are, but for the confidence it brings when you pin your hair, or add the red lips, even driving an old classic no matter what it was this way of living is supposed to make you feel inspired, and remarkable, not question who you are due to size...

Ladies have you ran into this at all? Am I crazy to feel the way I do?

I have always wanted to be in a spread of Rebel Rodz Magazine and featured as a plus size girl whose dam proud!

Ugh, breaks my heart...

"Plus Size" means many different things to many different people, depending on the industry. In the high fashion world, 6 is considered plus size. The casting call was from the photog, and so it was obviously his or her idea of what plus size is. Curves do not mean fat (not saying that a 13 is fat, because it's not), but some photogs/designers/companies just want girls with curves, not girls who are big. There is photog here in the Bay who books plus size models, and she only accepts size 12 and above.

It's really is a sliding scale, so don't get upset just because one person felt that plus size was a 9. That is not this industry, just one persons opinion.

What Roxy said is spot-on.  The term "plus size" is so vague and everybody has their own interpretation of it.  There are some people who believe that plus size doesn't start until size 16.  So, don't get discouraged.  In the future, if you find another casting call for plus size models, contact the photog and find out what size range they're looking for.  That way, you're not wasting your time with some fools who don't appreciate a plumpie pinup!  :)
