The Expendables, better than you might think.

So yesterday we decided to bite the bullet and go to the movies and final see "The Expendables". I will say that this flick was a VERY pleasant surprise. First off I am glad to see Stallone looking this damn good and kicking ass at 64 years of age. A fun old school style action flick with a fantastic ensemble cast. So what did I like best? Well how about this as an idea. A bunch of old mercenaries who play with all of our favorite things( motorbikes, hotrods, classic radial engined aircraft, tattoos, and bad ass attitudes) go and overthrow some corrupt dictator on a South American island. Fun premise and great execution. Sure it is hokey at parts but it is fun ! This is B-Movie action done right and with the right guys ! Some good one liners and phenomenal action sequences !

So my personal favorite thing about this movie? Well they are all REAL MEN. I hope this marks the return of the REAL man to cinema. These guys except for Statham and Li are mostly in their 50s and 60s and they are AWESOME !! Jason Statham is fantastic as always, this guy has charisma and attitude like a Brit Steve McQueen. They were in their late 30s and early 40s in their prime 20 years ago. Back then REAL men were action heroes, think John McLain in Die Hard. Lets hope this marks the return of the cinematic badass and the demise of the wimpy Michael Cera types.

Go see this flick while it is still in theaters an enjoyable, fun, and wild ride of action and humor. Glad the old guard is still making movies !
