so I spent ALL day baking ad decorating cookies, fudge, peppermint bark and peanut brittle to take to my coworkers next week, and have run myself ragged(but joyfully) collecting canned foods for local shelters and toys for toys for tots like I do every year and this year I am so excited, I have branched out to collecting food for local animal shelters as well. this is actually my fav part of the holidays! I love being able to help ppl who aren't as blessed as I am.
what does everyone else do to get ready for the holidays?
We just decorated the house yesterday. Then I baked cookies, fudge, and made chocolate lollipops. I also put a few small carepackages together as well along with the help from my kids. :)
I don't know what it is...I'm not really one for junk food, and I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I love those sugar cookies in the shape of an Xmas tree with green sprinkles. The xmas bells are okay and maybe red sugar sprinkles, but the trees with the green sugar sprinkles..that's where it's all at...
This past week, I baked and shipped out cookies to troops stationed in Iraq. Today, I made my Christmas cards, although I still need to write, address, and mail them! I usually "adopt" a kid or two through a local charity organization, and buy as much of their Christmas lists as I can, but my being laid off this year means that I have to cut back on spending. Which sucks, of course, because our struggling economy means that even more people are suffering, and there are fewer folks able to help. Kudos to you for doing such good work!
