Hi! I need help coming up with a stage name for my bellydance and burlesque performances. I can't seem to find one I like. Here are some things I have considered:
Ezmerelda Uligi
Blythe von Blythe
Candida Redfeather (the problem here is that it sounds Native American and I don't want to be stuck with a particular schtick, if you know what I mean)
Thanks to anyone who has any words of wisdom for me!

I'm not the greatest at making up names, but I like Ezmerelda. I always think of burlesque performers names as "cute" and "Cheeky" (if fact, I knew a girl who's stage name had Cheeky in it!)

My favorite Burlesque performers name was Gypsy Rose Lee :)

I know that doesn't really help, but you can always look up other burlesque performers and see what kind of names they have? :)

Bacardi Auburndale was the name I would have used had I ever been a burlesque dancer.
Woohoo, I'm a fellow belly dancer! I'm stuck with a name too, but when I saw your name on here, all I could think of was Blythe Shadowburne!

I like the name Ezmerelda too, but I'm not so sure on the Uligi, as it seems hard to pronouce. Usually the best stage names are easy to say, or roll of the tougue well, although bizarre names do tend to stick too!

Sorry I can't be of much help, but good luck with your dancing! :D
I used to teach belly dancing to kids! :)
No offense, but when I hear "Candida", I think of a fungal infection!
none taken, it was a suggestion from a friend, I was just throwing it out there. But I won't use it for sure, i appreciate the input!

I never thought of adding in the shadow to my name, thanks, that helps a lot more than you know!

Glad I could be of help! :D

Names are always the hardest!
I got lucky with mine, Tabby Von Terror, since i was able to use my real name into it.
It came about because a-my name it Tabitha. I always thought the little "linking" names (Von, Le, etc.) were rad and I wanted to incorporate that into it. Terror came from the fact i love horror movies, and I work at a Haunted House every year and i love love LOVE scaring people :D
i got some help from some gals on here too, theres a thread over in the models section that gals have made to help with their pin up name. You might get some good ideas there!

good luck!

My teachers gave me lots of methods to come up with a name, mixing and matching things like your favorite color, drink, candy, car, perfume, gemstone, pet names for women, etc etc etc. Double entendres are always great!

Of course there's the classic porn method of first pet's name and street name!

But I have to advise against overused words or parts of names already in famous use (a line in one of my handouts specifically discouraged "Von anything"!)

And, who's your burlesque character like? Is she a vampy seductress? Is she sweet and bubbly? A name corresponding to your character is very memorable and gives the crowd a sense of what they'll see before you even come onstage.
I love belly dancing! I'm trying to find a class in my area so I can join up!

My sister came up with the name 'Hannah LuLu' a couple of weeks ago, which I liked. I'd already got my name though, and Hannah is my real name anyway so it wouldn't have worked. It has a tiki twist seeing as it's a play on words with 'Honolulu'. Tiki might not be your character though, but there's my two penny's worth!
