Social Clubs: how would I start one?

I would love to create a ladies social club, but I'm not exactly sure where to begin or what it takes. 

I know that in the 50s teenagers often formed clubs or gangs and planned parties and did things together (on the level to delinquent). Adults had their clubs too, men had thier moose lodges and bowling clubs and women had bridge. The type of club I would like to form would be a weekly or a monthly gathering of ladies of common interests and tastes (the most obvious being the love for pinup and retro styling) to enjoy the company of others. This could center around bridge, although I admit I don't have a clue how to play, or bowling which is fun and relatively easy. Maybe even outings to favorite vintage shops for shopping trips etc. 
Of course dances, parties and group outings to concerts would be great fun also. Basically, what I am looking to form is a vehicle by which people can meet friends, form lasting memories and have a great time doing it. 

I would love to meet some lovely ladies in my area that interested in pinup and like to have fun. I'm usually the odd one out everywhere I go because of how I dress. It's never a negative experience, but it'd be nice to roam in packs too! I find myself living for the next big meet up (RATP, VLV, Ink&Iron) just so I can rub elbows with pin-ups, retro lovers, and tattoo enthusiast. It would be wonderful to have that more often. 

So for those of you who have done this or are currently apart of a social club, my question is where do I start? What things do I need to consider etc. I've have this desire for a while, but I'm sure there are things im not aware of.  Which is why I am seeking the wisdoms of the community. Me too! I would love to meet more pin/up retro lovers.I live in Playa Del Rey so there is not alot going on in my immediate area. If you form a club let me know.

That is an awesome idea. I would love to be involved in something like that as well. I know there are some things that go on here, unfortunately my schedule doesn't allow for me to get out as often as I would like. :-(

Hey there gals!

  Anyone in Las Vegas that would like to have a meet and greet?  There is a retro style diner on Buffalo, Johnny Rockets at fashion show mall too!  I am not a bar gal either as one of the other members said also...I guess that is what makes us real pin up retro girls as we enjoy activities like crafts, bowling and home-making type activites;)

This thread is about starting a social club, if you would like to start a thread about a Las Vegas meet, head over to The West group and post up there. I think it's a great idea to have as many meets as possible, the one's we've had in the past have led to some amazing friendships. Also, remember that there are a ton of events coming up and those are great places to have meet ups. Keep an eye on the Viva Group for information on our Viva 2012 meet up.

I have started a social group, it is still fairly new, with a friend. It has been lots of fun and great to have new friendships with people who have the same interests as myself. I would be happy to answer any questions you have. I am in the mid west and find it a challenge but you must try to be outgoing and just talk to people, that's how you start!

Thanks to everyone! You've all given me loads to consider. I have been hard at work on my mission statement and focus. I have a name, and an idea for our logo. I'm very excited!

I'm also thankful that this opened up an opportunity to plan a meet-up with a fellow PL-er :)
