So here's my dilemma, of sorts...

More me just being neurotic..

I'm camera shy, well, sort of, I don't really mind having my picture taken, but I tend to scrap every one I find because I think its terrible.. I was offered a modelling gig when I was younger, but I turned it down because of school and such.. But now, I'd love to get into pinup-modelling and burlesque (burlesque first and foremost), but I don't know where to start.. And being in Toronto, there aren't a lot of places TO start.

Does anybody have any advice on overcoming my neurotic photo-destructive tendancies? Or on how to get a start in a lack-luster area..?

Find an awesome photographer (there's a bunch here on PL) and have them take pix. Or.... find ANYONE to take hundreds of pix of you. All you need is to find that one great picture to get over your issue. Study what you like about that one pic and try to keep doing that.

As for getting into the scene, if there is none around you, make one! Talk to girls, put an add in the paper, talk to a club and see if they would want to have a show.

The people on here are pretty awesome.. I'll search around here some more for some photographers and such, there aren't many canucks on here, a handful of wonderful ones though=)
And I have been chatting with fellow ladies on here, we've got a meet of sorts coming up! Which might spark something, who knows..?

Pose in the mirror loads and loads to get comfertable with what angles work for you. Then it will come naturally every time some one pulls a camera out you wont be able to help but pose x

Yep, find someone who knows even the first thing about taking pics and just have them take tons of pictures of you.
I'd kill to have someone around here in my corner of Virginia.

Yeah, I understand your dilemma..I'm very camera shy myself. I still think I look horrible in most pictures but I'm trying to get over it. And it is hard to get work in Toronto because it's so DEAD out here. Maybe you should consider moving? I know it's extreme but I really think moving to a place with a better, more active scene helps. I know I'm gonna do it as soon as I can.
I'd like to start some kinda pin up group in Toronto but there doesn't seem to be many enthusiastic people here. It's not like you can force people to have fun right? Anyways if you're interested maybe we could work together.

I'd be up for working together.. I have a really nice camera, that I know how to use relatively well.. Maybe we could get some kind of amateur shoot going on..?
