Sleeping in rollers every night, rockin' victory rolls every day

Ok, so I've seen a few posts about Pin Up being a thing/style/lifestyle. I'm just wondering who really throws on a swing dress and red lipstick every single day? I personally don't go FULL OUT every single day. I wear my hair retro styled pretty much everyday, it might be in victory rolls, up in a bandana, or just rockin' my "Bettie Bangs" and a flower. I sleep in pin curls or roller every now and then. I ALWAYS have on my winged eyeliner and 80% of the time my red lips. A decent amount of my shoes are peep toes, polka dot, or gingham checked. But I don't own a pair of thigh highs or a garter belt. I usually wear jeans. I wear a lot of tee shirts and tank tops. If you looked in my closet you would automatically think Pin Up. And that's not because that's how I want it, it's just that I'm slightly on the broke side and Pinupgirlclothing.com isn't exactly cheap. I mean, if it weren't for my two kids wanting to eat all the time I could just spend my grocery money on clothes!!! ;-)
So tell me, what's your daily retro to modern ratio? I'd say I'm about 65/35.

It depends where I am going. Haven't found any pin up styles that serve in in yoga class, lol. My area has a swing dance about every nite of the week and while a lot of people that attend do NOT dress vintage they go crazy when I do which encourages me to always throw on something with style. I'm a natural curly top and pretty lo maintenance - wash and go so I usually stick in a flower or feathered fascinator of some sorts when I want to evoke the period. In younger days I was exclusive to black liquid eyeliner and red lips but now go with colors that enhance the 'costume'. I'm crazy for a peep toe and so glad when they became fashionable again but it's not all I own. And while stockings and a garter are great looking I find them so impractical and skip hose alltogether. Cant say I'm retro at all in the jeanswear...when i'm dressed down you probably wouldn't suspect I have a vintage soul. The repros are awesome and those PUG dresses fit like latex paint and I dont think their price points are unrealistic (although if they were less expensive I could own them ALL! They have to pay all those gorgeous models...) I try to find authentic period clothing - then I know I have a one of a kind.
I enjoy many different styles, and don't enjoy feeling confided to a stereotype. I love the Pin Up look mucho but, some days I enjoy throwing on a beanie and jeans. I get to play dress up alot while performing and when I hit a night on the town, it's always curled bangs and victory rolls.

I do the goth thing, and the pinup thing. So when I don't feel like wearing heels I just throw on the combat boots . I do have an office job so that allows me to wear my 40's 50's style dresses to work with heels and then on weekends I mostly dress comfy, unless I am going out.
if I'm not in pinup attire, I'm wearing jeans, tank top, made up hair and face, and a flower. It's pretty easy to tell what style I lean towards. I like it, because when I go into a clothing store, and the girls want to help, they automatically bring me retro-inspired clothing options! I'd say that I'm about 80/20 toward the full out pinup look. I save my really great outfits and what-not for special events.

Pinup Girl Clothing is actually amazingly priced. If you think about it, they're actually cheaper then dresses you would find in Macy's or Sear's dress departments! I also adore their casual wear, and usually am rocking one of their tank tops or t-shirts...(cut up and made original, of course!)

Stay true to yourself, and you'll always be comfortable and beautiful!
I dont wear a swing dress every day, however I do have alot of wiggle dresses and swing dresses in my wardrobe. As well as circular skirts and pencil skirts.
During the week when I'm not at work I tend to wear rolled up jeans and a cute tee. and I always do my hair.
At work I wear dresses/skirts ect and I always do my hair.
Shoes, I'm afraid I wear flats 99.9% of the time.
I like to wear stockings, but most of the time I go bear legged.
The red lips are non negotiable. I wear them every single day. I think I might miss out like one or two sundays a month, and only IF i'm not leaving my room/the house.
If PUG clothing was cheaper, I would have at least 90% of their stuff. At the moment its just not practical for me to spend that much on a dress. I usually make my stuff at home during the week when I'm not at work.
I would say my ratio is about 75 - 85/25 -15. it just depends on how lazy im being
My style is very 1955-1965 inspired, so I almost never "throw on a swing dress", but I do dress up; halter dresses, wiggle dresses, pencil skirts, etc, when ever I go out. However, when it comes to everyday things like shopping or a casual night at a friends, my style is very jeans and a tank top. My go-to tanks DO have a lace collar, my jeans are dark denim and skinny, and I always have a cardigan with me. I never go out without my make up done, and can't remember the last time I went out without a flower or bandanna in my hair.. (ok, yes I can, it was to the PL Loft last week, lol).

Bottom line, I love the vintage look, but with a special needs child, it's just not practical (although I wish it was, I admire those women from back then), and as much as I'd love to get dressed up everyday, I'll have to settle for vintage inspired.
I like many styles, like gothic, punk, hippie, kinda indianesque. But I do love the pin up look the best. I try to do what I can with it, maybe wear a swing dress, save for buys I'd really like (which takes me forever to really decide if I want to spend money). Typically I just rock my Bettie bangs, wear my eyeliner and red lips practically everyday. If I wear jeans I try to pair it with a top that is retro or pin up looking and if I can't, sometimes it's just the make up and hair that really does it. My dresses are mostly wiggle. Lol, I just try if I can and make do with my almost nonexsistent budget (yay I'm a penny pincher!). I think I deserve at least a B for effort.
I am lazy. haha, so that's why I got Bettie Bangs because all I have to do is put on red lipstick, eyeliner, and curl my bangs and im a done pin-up girl! I have few pin-up clothing but am hoping to stock up once I get the paychecks rolling.

I find it's hard to reel myself with doing my hair like victory rolls because in the end I'll just get frustrated haha. But some days I like to really dress up and go all out. I hardly wear red lipstick but I should start wearing it more. It's just difficult when I eat and I eat all the time!! haha
Sounds like a few of the problems you have can be solved by the Dollhouse. Victory rolls are easy once you get the hang of them, and a good red lipstick should not come off when you eat (mine doesn't, and I eat ALL the time too! LOL) Had on over there for some great tips and tutorials!! www.pinupdollhouse.com

I make an effort to do makeup and a little bit of hair everyday, but I defintely do NOT dress the part!!! I have a closet full of vintage and heels galore but I just don't find it practical for everyday life.

I'll put on foundation, powder, neutral eyeshadow, winged eyeliner, red lipstick and some sort of casual hairstyle every day. I usually pair that with jeans and Chucks and a tank top. Some days maybe some high waisted capris and a halter top.

To me the "lifestyle" is a state of mind..........your being in general. It's more about the music/movies/cars/furniture, whatever etc of a certain time period that makes you happy, and all of those things can be enjoyed on a daily basis with or without dressing the part. I definitely do not have to have a dress and heels and the perfect hair to watch a black and white movie, listen to a record on my vintage 60's record player or pour a whiskey from my 1940's decanters to enjoy it.

Alof of the "scene" or whatever you want to call it has become way too centered on making a fashion statement and having the coolest hair/makeup/clothes rather than the core things that it was born from......
Just a reminder to keep this on topic, this is about how much you dress the part everyday, not about the "scene".

Thanks ladies!
SORRY. I thought it was relevant. My F**k up.
