Oh my gawd! I really can't believe this... : ( I love The Cramps (just look at my playlist and myspace..I have a video on there). What's even WORSE is I never got to see their live show. I hate it when awesome people like this leave so soon..my condolences to his loved ones.
It's hard to think of Lux Interior as dead, despite what reports say. Then again, it was always hard to think of him as alive.
Some 30 years ago, with the King still warm in his casket, Lux rose like a zombie from the primordial swamp as a twisted, grotesquely libidinous, werewolf Elvis from Hell, and the mask – if it was a mask – never came off.
From a wonderful article at The Guardian (Loads of video links sprinkled throughout.)
I can honestly say they truly are one of my favorite bands. The Cramps have been a big inspiration to me and will continue to do so even after the loss of Lux. It really breaks my heart that I was never in the right place at the right time to see them play live. But since Lux is the Elvis from Hell I know it won't be long before he has his own strange sightings just Like Elvis. That would be fitting for him I think!
This evening I turned on the radio just to hear the news and they were talking about the Cramps. I NEVER thought I'd hear a band I actually love on CBC Radio! Of course the lady who was hosting the show didn't have a clue about what she was talking about. She was so surprised Lux Interior and Poison Ivy were married for over 30 years..she said "That's a very long time for a rock n roll couple." Mmm..I think that's a long time for anyone these days... they played "Goo Goo Muck" but not all the way through. You could tell it wasn't her kinda music. F*** why do they hire such squares at radio stations? I would've done a proper tribute.. : )
